Primary Researcher
José Gálvez is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Augsburg. He conducts research at the interface of media theory, cultural history, and sound analysis, with a focus on popular music, technology, and politics. Between 2019 and 2025, he was a research assistant in the Department of Musicology/Sound Studies at the University of Bonn, where he received his PhD with a dissertation on sound and subjectivity in US rock & roll culture of the 1950s. Previously, he held positions at the University of Düsseldorf and Humboldt University of Berlin. In March 2027, he will join the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart as tenure-track Assistant Professor.
