Co-Researcher
Henrik Almon has been a member of the PopPrints research group since 2026. After an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk (Verlagskaufmann), he studied musicology, media studies and literary studies in Weimar, Jena and Paris. He then worked as a music teacher in Brazil, which led to his doctoral research. He gained his PhD in 2018 at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar with a thesis on discourses about art music in Brazil in the first half of the 20th century. From 2013 to 2026 he held various positions with the classical music publishing catalogues of Universal Music (Ricordi, Durand-Salabert-Eschig) in Berlin and Paris. His research interests focus on musicians’ mobilities and music transfers between Brazil and Europe (with a focus on Heitor Villa-Lobos) as well as, in a similar vein, on the operetta catalogues of the Ufaton-Musikverlage and others and the reception of this music until the 1950s.
